Launch Tech Is My Appendectomy: What's Yours?

Have you ever looked watched someone else do something that seems impossible and thought, "I could never do that! How is that even possible?" Maybe you feel that way with your launch tech.
I had one of those moments this week. And it all had to do with a hospital and surgeon.
My 16-year-old rarely complains about anything, especially when it comes to pain or illness. This is the kid whose ear drums would burst when he was little without any mention of an ear ache and who protested a trip to the ER last winter after driving a knife through his hand with a hammer (He was trying to open a Sharpie to see if there was ink left in it).
So when I found out he was in tremendous pain this week, I knew a trip to the ER was in order.
At 9:30pm, I dropped him off at the door to the ER so I could park the car. Precisely 4 hours later, at 2:30am, I was picking him up at the same door minus his appendix.
In four hours, he'd arrived, been diagnosed, had his appendix removed and was on his way home to sleep in his own bed.
I couldn't believe it.
My family couldn't believe it. Heck, they'd all gone to bed the night before thinking he had the stomach flu and woke up to find out he'd had his appendix taken out while they were sleeping. My mom must have asked if I was joking 10 times.
See, an appendectomy used to be a big deal. Five days in the hospital was considered a quick recovery. Four hours was the stuff of science fiction.
But for this surgeon, who knew how to use all of the technology available to him, an appendectomy was a walk in the park. Nothing at all to be concerned about. Something he could do at midnight - while everyone else was asleep.

When you are marketing your online courses, remember that approximately two percent of people targeted will respond. Does that give you an idea of how many email addresses you will need to reach your revenue goals?
91. Bring a Friend
Offer people that sign up for your course a bonus if they recommend a friend that signs up. Increase your participants and your email list!
92. Test Your Launch
Before you do your full-scale launch, do a test run. Email select people on your list. Pick the ones that usually open your email. Offer them the course on a pre-launch special at 50% off. If they bite, it's a good indication that you're in good shape for the launch.

One important thing to remember, and it applies to all marketing, really. Don't sell with logic. Sell with Emotion. People make buying decision based on emotions.

Allow for periodic assessments throughout the course. How will you know if the information is sinking in otherwise? Stop and check for knowledge every now and then.
99. Have You Created a Monster?
Don't overcomplicate things for yourself. Don't make the course so complicated that it's hard for you to maintain and rework when necessary.
100. Keep Up with the Competition
It's important that you understand the industry, and one of the best ways to do that is to see what the other team's up to. Check in on the competition from time to time. This will help with your course development and your marketing strategy.
