Marketers must use of great sponsored content to attract customers. Not every post serves this purpose. Some ads can be a nuisance to consumers in some situations. You can easily know whether your strategies are effective by checking the sales and penetration in new markets. Stagnation means the current plans are not working at all. The sponsored content is not engaging.

Ensure there is a bond between the photo and the text
You must have seen photos with accompanying content that do not much at all. It will not be astonishing to find the consumer moving to another site. The mind of the viewer had already been immersed in viewing the places the person has visited.

Don't plant Text on Photos
Avoid temptations of typing all over the picture. The appearance of the name of the product on large parts of the photo is detrimental. A mere caption is enough to draw the attention. Remember the photo is the main attraction, not the writings.
Low quality sponsored content doesn't engage. A reduced engagement can be noted by the number of comments. A few comments mean there is no interest in the content. When your sponsored content contains good photos, small tags and people can associate with it; research has shown it performs well.

Understanding Content Marketing... In Less Than 5 Minutes
There's been a lot of talk lately about the term "Content Marketing" but sometimes these industry buzzwords end up being quite meaningless to the people who need to understand them the most.
In this case, anyone who is in business needs to understand what this term means.
So at the risk of using "industry jargon" and not make any assumptions that all entrepreneurs and business owners know what this term means, plus why they should know about it to begin with, today's article will shed some light on the content marketing subject.
What is Content Marketing?
The Content Marketing Institute defines content marketing as being a "strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly-defined audience - and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action."
What this means to you is the need to create articles, images, audios and/or videos that can be shared to your followers through various means, with the intention of attracting your ideal target market so they will eventually convert into being a paying customer.
And once that content is created, then it can be re-purposed and re-distributed again as a new form of media.
For instance, I post a video eTip on YouTube but it doesn't stop there. l can then make a blog article out of it by embedding the video into the blog post. From there, I'll send out a newsletter with a snippet to the same blog article.
But there's still more that can be done. I can take things further and flush out a whole new article based on the premise of the video, providing a more in-depth look at that particular topic.
From there I could create quotables and tip snippets for social media where I use #eTip as my hashtag. Maybe there's enough information to create an infographic from that article too. Or take the audio portion of that original video and post it as a podcast.
As you can see, there are many different ways one piece of content can be used and re-purposed. But first, let's address why you should even bother going through that effort.

With the age of "relationship marketing", content marketing is an ideal tool to attract paying clients in a non-evasive, non-selling manner, more authentic manner.
Here's some benefits of adding content marketing to your business strategy:
1. Generate Brand Awareness and Visibility: Showcasing your expertise through content distribution is a great way to get in front of your ideal target market and begin to build brand awareness every time someone views your pieces.
2. Build a "Know, Like and Trust" Factor With Followers: People buy from people they trust and there's no better way to gain trust than by sharing your knowledge through your own voice, no matter what industry you're in.
3. Set The Stage for Converting Followers into Purchasers: Some people need to see or hear about your many times before they start to think about hiring you. By providing them a tonne of value gives them peace of mind you are in business for their best interest, not yours, and are more likely to purchase from you.
4. Create Brand Advocates: Existing clients (and some that aren't) can be your best advocates if you give them an opportunity to share your content to their followers. The more they share, the more your brand awareness escalates.

The Challenges to Content Marketing
When I speak about content marketing with clients, one of the biggest areas of resistance to implementation is the amount of time that is required. It's time consuming to not only create the content in the first place, but to also distribute the content.
I remember watching a video from an incredible content marketer, Gary Vaynerchuk, who had mentioned it may take him an hour to write a piece of content but another 5 hours to distribute it. But that's exactly how he built his empire - through content marketing.
A challenge that I face is keeping track of all my content marketing efforts. There are several tools that can help with this, and I find using an Excel sheet works well where I track each post and where it has been distributed.
These challenges may seem daunting to begin incorporating content marketing strategies for your business, but the benefits really can have a huge impact on your bottom line, so it's well worth the effort.
And don't think you have to do all of this by yourself either. We do a lot of social media and content marketing for clients so outsourcing is a definite viable option to consider.
Where to Start
The first thing you need to do is create content. Seems obvious but the real question is, what kind of content? My advice is to focus on your blog.
Since writing articles for your blog has so many benefits, such as SEO positioning, these efforts will get you the biggest bang for your buck (a.k.a. your time).
Begin by writing an article and posting it to your blog. Then think about ways you can distribute that article to get it in front of your ideal target market.

- Twitter
- LinkedIn
- Pinterest
- Google+
- Instagram (and other social media accounts you might have)
- Article repository sites
- Medium and LinkedIn Articles (formerly known as LinkedIn Pulse)

Conversions: Less Volume, More Results

Numbers don't matter as much as results. Focus on conversion strategies over building volume. Because if you're not setup to convert, the volume won't help you one bit.
Think About How Hard You Work to Get Traffic
Getting traffic isn't always easy. You optimize your web pages and build links. You write wicked blog posts, hoping for a little word of mouth and link love. You make all the "friends" you can on the social web, so they will be interested in clicking through to your information and hopefully buy your products.
Here's the problem - if you aren't targeting your IDEAL customer in all that work, you're just setting yourself up for a really high maintenance business. If you have decided that your business needs volume (rather than conversion) to succeed, you've probably done a few of the following things:
Try to get as many "friends" and people who like you and your website as possible. Just like in real life, more friends and fans means more emails, more phone calls, more obligations. In short, it can be EXHAUSTING.
Were more concerned with volume than your idea target customer, hoping something would stick. Sorry, but the more generic and wide-appealing your message, the less likely you'll convert and in the process you may alienate your actual target market.
Didn't implement a strong conversion strategy because you thought it might affect your volume. We all want to be liked, but we're also here to run a business... so run your business. If you lose people along the way, the reason is simple. They weren't your customers to begin with.
So, here's the big question. How are your conversions? Do you know?
Calculating Your Conversions
The calculation for conversion is simple and if you already get this part, read on as there might be a few tips in this section you hadn't thought of before.
The basic calculation is this:
For example, if I have 3 sales during ad campaign that achieves 274 visitors, my conversion rate is: 1.1%
Or if I have 120 visitors and 30 opt-in to my newsletter, my conversion rate is: 25%
It's a simple matter of dividing your actions/sales/opt-ins by the number of visitors. Simple as that.
So What's a Good Conversion Rate?
It varies. It depends if you're selling a product or looking for leads - obviously, a lead is easier to get than a sale. It also depends on your source of traffic.
Traffic from your opt-in or customer list should convert better than a general advertising campaign.
Traffic from affiliates who effectively warm up their referrals will often be higher than a pay-per-click campaign.
Of course, people want some kind of barometer to ensure they're somewhere in the ballpark of where they should be.
For a sales page with targeted traffic, a conversion rate of 2-4% would be a good thing to shoot for, but for many products it is possible to go higher.
For an opt-in page with similar traffic 30% or more is certainly attainable and if you're sending pre-sold traffic to the opt-in page, you can go much higher than that.
You also want to look at conversions on a page-per-page basis. If you have a multi-page website and you're looking at the visitor numbers as a whole, but you're trying to figure out how well your sales page converts, you should look at the visitor stats for the actual sales page. While knowing how your website performs as a whole can be a useful statistic, there are many administrative pages and pages people visit for other reasons (ex. membership log in areas, download pages, forums, etc.).
And as a final note, your profit per sale also affects what type of conversion you might be shooting for. If you have a high profit product, a lower conversion rate might very well be acceptable because it yields a better return for you. So the second calculation you need to do is "value per visitor".
Calculating Your Value Per Visitor
For example, if I have 789 visitors and my sales are $523, that means the visitor value is $0.66. Of course, you need to take into account your actual PROFIT, so if you know your profit per sale and use that, you will get a much more telling number. Of course, the higher profit your product is and the more targeted your traffic and page, the easier it will be to increase that number.
Improving Your Conversions
The fact of the matter is, marketing to the masses is tiring and it's way more work and if you look at your numbers, you might be surprised that you're working much harder at getting volume than you need to.
With that in mind, here are some action steps for you:
Know who your audience is and keep your focus on that.
Different pages, have different purposes, so you have to balance conversion with your end goals. For example, you'll approach a blog differently than you would a sales page or opt-in page, but many of the basics are the same. You need to conscious of conversion, no matter the marketing vehicle.
Don't be afraid to sell and learn to sell naturally. If you have a product that is the perfect complement to something you're talking about in a blog post, tell them about it. Sell products regularly to your mailing list. It seems silly to say, but many people don't seem to realize - If you want to sell something, you have to sell it!
Keep your reader focused. There's no need to give them a thousand different options and hope they'll click something or do something. Keep your site clean and focus on one main conversion goal per page (ex. sell a product, get an opt-in, etc.).
Now there's nothing wrong with growing your volume, once you have those 4 things above in place. After all, if you've got the conversion thing down, more highly-target prospects will only benefit your business.
