In this article, I will share with you the three things you need
to know before you start to identity your niche, because right now, you
are in risk of having your dream fizzle out and die. Not only that, you
are at risk of falling into the shiny object trap, whereby you could end
buying product after product, to help you get started.
So let's get started
1 - Get clear on your purpose
You need to get completely clear on your reason for starting an online venture. If you're not clear on your purpose, chances are you'll be quick to throw in the towel, when the going gets tough. Your purpose can acts as your motivator and driver, when you do start your venture.
2 - Know how much time you can invest
Right now, you are not thinking about doing niche research for the sake of it. You're doing it to make money, to make a profit. In order to do that, you are going to have to take action, to do that you need to invest time.
The best thing you can do right now, is investigate how you are currently spending your time. Over the next 3 - 7 days, keep a time diary, jot down all the activities you take part in, all the things you do, from the moment you wake up and go to sleep. Jotting down the time you spend doing those activities.
After doing that for 3-7 days and if you have been have been totally honest with yourself, you will discover, there are certain thing you do for the sake of and if you stopped doing them you wouldn't miss it. Then there will thing you do, someone else could do it instead. But most importantly you will know how much time you can spend on your business and what you might be prepared to sacrifice.
3 - Do a pre-niche selection exercise
Chances are you've never come across the "pre-niche selection exercise", because I've made up. But, here's what you need to do, take a complete inventory if what you like, knowledgeable on and passionate about, just jot it on a piece of paper. Once you've done that list down all the things you can teach about, then list your hobbies, list any problems you can are able to solve.
At the end of the exercise, just rate them from 1-10, 10 being for the one's that really excite you. Then go out do your research based on the subject that excite and interest you.
